OR

the Outdoors NW web map or the app for Apple or Android, and then provide feedback to help make the maps better.

If you have already installed the app you may need to update your download areas or even reinstall the app to force it to load the latest version of the map - the latest version should look like the map below.

On the web map or app, try the following:

  • Zoom in and and move around the map. Are the icons large enough to see without being too big, do the trails and roads show up clearly? Are the colors intuitive without being distracting. What would make the map easier to use. Click on locations (points, trails or areas) to see what information is available.

  • Try the filters: The filters will show you places that meet all of the criteria (except for passes, cell service, manager and days open, where it will show places that take any of the selected options.) On the app, filters only work on points: if you filter for an activity it will highlight the trailheads but not the trails; on the web map, the filter will show both trails and points. For example, you can filter for a single activity such as ATVing or mix filters to find a destination that meets all your needs, such as campgrounds with RV sites, boat launches and nearby ATV. The web map has more filters than the app. What additional filters would you like to see? What filters do you think are not needed? For example, here is the map with filters showing places that have motorcycle trails, RV sites and water access. Find more information about using the filters and a list of options here.

  • Try the search: use the search to find places by name. If you want to find a city, search by the city name. To get just the city (and not places with the city in their name), add “City of before the name in the search) (for example, City of Ellensburg). You can also use search to find places that are on a named water body, for example this is all of the destinations along the Methow River.

  • If you are using the app, try downloading a region for off-line use.

  • Check out other maps/apps in the set: Snow NW (map and app), or Dogs NW , Taste NW, Olympic Peninsula, Visit Walla Walla and Boat NW (map only).

  • If you are using the app, please compare the experience with the web map.
